dBeautifier
Description:
dBeautifier makes you downloads look a lot nicer and is much simpler and cleaner to add to posts with just a simple tag. Also now it hads a download counter, displays file information and a customizable CSS sheet that’s ready to go.
History:
Unfortunately the creator of this great plugin, Joseph Newing, doesn’t feel the need to continue the support of this plugin. Even worse was that he didn’t continue the availability of this plugin.
Commenter Kommix found this plugin and offered it as a RapidShare download, but I think this plugin deserves more than that. For this reason I offer dBeautifier on my website a second life.
Update:
Plugin is available again at binslashbash.org
Installation:
Unzip the plugin to your PC. Upload the download.php file into your wordpress root directory. ex: /home/username/wordpress/ Upload the dBeautifier directory and all its contents into your plugins directory ex: /home/username/wordpress/wp-content/plugins/ Login to your wordpress admin panel and activate the plugin.
Navigate yourself to Options… dBeautifier and configure all applicable options.
Usage:
Simply follow the easy guide inside the readme file.
Bugs:
There are for now 3 bugs known:
1. There is no download counter visible2. The tag is lost as soon as the post/page is updated and needs to be retyped
3. The plugin-adminpanel seems to be incomplete
For the rest the plugin works perfectly and does what it claims to do; make your download more beautiful.

Hi Jeroen, I recently had problems with dBeautifer 3.4 for PHP5 when I upgraded to Wordpress 2.0.5. I then also upgraded to 2.0.6! Anyway, I created a bit of a solution which you may be interested in:

Thanks!

Jeroen,
Thanks for providing the older versions (but in many ways better than the current one) of this great plugin.
I have fixed all the bugs you describe
1.
There is no download counter visible
2.The tag is lost as soon as the post/page is updated and needs to be retyped3.
The plugin-adminpanel seems to be incompleteand a few ones more , implemented some rudimentary statistics in the plugins administration interface & added a slightly improved download.php on an old v3.0 installation I use on my site. You can find the modified files and a screen shot of the added statistics at Adding extended download statistics in download beautifier (dBeautifier) plugin post at my site.
